Display grainy with at 7770

I have a e8400 with a p35 gigabyte board. My pc ran fine till like couple of month ago. You see I stay at a hostel and my pc is with my parents so when I came back this sem break I find the display to be heavily grainy like those old television sets were when it rains heavily outside ! whats wrong ? I connected my monitor to my laptop and it was displaying fine so I assume its got something to do with the gpu

i suspect too that it could be due to a dying video card. if you can borrow a spare video card from a friend then test it out on your pc then you could eliminate possible causes one by one. if you dont know how to replace video cards, i suggest you ask help from a friend who knows or bring your pc to a repair shop.
