Hello, I intend to get the Asus PCE-AC66 PCIe x1 dual band wifi ac adapter. Unfortunately due to motherboard limitations it would mean my big fat HD 7950 will have it's PCIe x16 slot reduced to run at x8.
I am looking for alternative wifi adapters that will not compete with my graphics card for PCIe lanes.
The adapter will be used to give my PC internet access from a dual band 5Ghz N router not too far away (less than 10m) there is direct line of sight between my PC and the router.
My internet service is a 300Mbit/s fiber optic and I want all 300Mbits to my PC. The Asus PCE-AC66 according to reviews has promising throughput which is why I'm looking at it.
Powerline adapters, cabling to my PC, or moving the router are all out of the question.
I am especially interested to know of any USB adapters that are proven reliable enough to give my PC the full 300Mbit of internet access bandwidth.
Please advise. Thanks in advance.
