Dual channeled RAM, going from 2gb to 3gb

Previously I had 4 memory sticks, all 512mb ( 2gb in total ) and my pc run at a reasonable speed, i recently changed out two of the 512mb for two 1gb sticks, ( the 1gbs are dual channeled with each other and same goes for the 512mb ) yet my computer seems to be running a bit choppy, why is this?

maybe the new ram is slower. they will all run at the lowest ram speed of the set.

so unless i swap out the 512mbs for another two 1gb, my pc won't run any faster? i just have more ram and that is it?

Hi,
What are your computer specs?
What are you memory specs?

Memory works best if same specs.
Does windows detects 3 gb memory?
Maybe a stick is damage, download memtest86 and test them.

Pentium 4 3.00ghz processor
512mb graphics card
yes its picking up 3gb of RAM
how do i check the specs of the memory?
memory sticks are all in perfect condition

nice but we need at least model of memory. We need to verify speed voltage and timing.
Their should be a sticker on the memory stick with some info on it. You can also download speccy to get the memory information
