Hello again!

I am currently running on a terrible old rig, and would like to squeeze some more juice out of it, if I can, before I build my new PC in a months time.

My rig is as follows:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ AM2 @ 2.2GHz
Mobo: MSI MS-7253 AM2
RAM: 2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 @ 800MHz
GPU: ASUS Radeon HD 6450 Silent 1GB

If there's anything else you need to know, just ask me :)

I would like to overclock my CPU to 2.4GHz if I can, perhaps my RAM somewhat too. If I can't do this, then any overclocking help would be great.

Thanks in advance guys!

Uh if you can find a really cheap 2gb stick of ummm 740mhz (guessing its 800 MHz ram with some weird stuff going on with fsb) with 5-6-5-18 timings that would help you out, but since its already running in dual channel make sure you have open slots to put it in, Additionally you could OC the processor if you already have an upgraded cpu cooler for it if not I wouldn't worry about it. There isn't much life left to squeeze out of it. Old parts are either 1) busted or 2)really expensive would make it hard to do an upgrade for much less than you could build a new Athlon rig for

I used to have the 3ghz version of that cpu a good few years back. That windsor core is a horrid overclocker.
You might be able to get 3ghz for 1.35v, but you will need to be careful not to overclock the ram. Start with a lower multiplier. Good luck, you'll need it :)

Well luckily I'm building a new Haswell i5 system after Christmas so I should be set for a few years with that one! I was going to get some more RAM a while back but unfortunately there are no more RAM slots, and my motherboard only supports 2GB anyway :(

Ah okay then you could manually set your ram to run at 800mhz (its off a little b/c of your fsb) which might help some, and I'm sure you could squeeze a few Mhz out of the processor, just dont' do anything and burn it up till your new rig is finished... then send it off Viking funeral style (vcore of like 3v and a multi of 80 :)

It's time to get to work on this baby. I'll be sure to give him a proper send off when I'm finished with him!
