Hey guys, let me tell you some history about my problem.
I have a pc with 2.0 ghz processor and 2 gb ram and 500 gb hard disk.
The pc was working great with windows xp and then after I did put alot of videos in a certain partition ( Local disk D ), the partition stopped working. The computer have became abit slower but it was okay and functioning.
About a month later, I installed windows 7 which worked great. However, I took a flash memory from a friend that had some software and after a while of copying the files to the hard disk, the computer froze. it became ultimately slow, i forced shut down and reopened to find out that it takes about 1 hour to open. However, I said to my self, that I may need to reformat, so reformatting took about 2 hours, installing windows xp took about 5 hours. normally the whole process takes 20 minutes. After after all that time, it didn't get fixed, the computer is still so slow, it takes a full day from the morning to night to open up the desktop and i can't really click on any ting. What do you guys think may happened ? Note that I changed the ram slot, I removed the motherboard battery for 2 minutes and put it back. But I don't know what else to do ! Please help, I have alot of work finish and desperately need it fixed !

Solution
It sounds like you could possibly have a hard drive that is dieing. You might want to run a scandisk or chkdsk from windows on that drive.

Yes I always install my chipset drivers after formatting.
