I am looking to buy a new gaming pc. Should I get a laptop or a desktop. I have only played on my laptop. I need the cheapest possible. Any suggestions???

Depends on what you're looking for. Laptops are a lot more portable. Even the most extreme laptop can still be put in a backpack and transported around ( even if it does weigh 20lbs. ) Also, if you're worried about price, you'll get a lot more performance out of a $500 desktop than you will out of a $500 laptop.

So, what are your priorities? What kind of games do you want to play, and at what resolution? Do you need an OS? Need new peripherals like a monitor or keyboard? What is your budget maximum?

I play wow. Im not exactly tech savvy yet. I have been playing for a couple of years on my sony laptop but it is lacking. Im leaning more towards a desktop because of the price situation. I had hoped to find something for around $300 - $400. but I am finding that is probably not going to happen. lol

Hmm, $400 is tight. This is the best I could bobble together in a few minutes. You might get a little better, but not by much.

PCPartPicker part list

CPU: Intel Pentium G2020 2.9GHz Dual-Core Processor ($59.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($82.55 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($43.92 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon HD 7750 1GB Video Card ($63.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Antec Three Hundred Two ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($59.99 @ NCIX US)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($16.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $437.39

Admittedly, the Pentium will start lagging behind first. The good news is the board can easily upgrade to an i3 or i5. But if you can go up to $500, you can start with that right now and not have to replace anything for a while ( assuming you just stick to lightweight gaming. )
