It will work but is strongly suggest you get the Asus M5A97 R2.0 since it is better for overclocking and a better board overall.

Alright, one more question. Would I need to update my bios if I am going to use an eight core cpu? Or can I just build it like you would using a quad core?

Your motherboard will work with this cpu even without a bios update, since it doesn't matter how many cores you have on the cpu. It should work out of the box.

Though it is strongly recommended that update your bios and install latest drivers But Not Compulsory.
