adding router to DSL modem

Solution
What you really need is a switch, instead of another router.

From the Q1000, via the existing Cat5, connect to a switch. Then connect the slingbox and the new stereo to the switch.

You can turn the Netgear into a switch, by turning off just about everything in it. But that is far more PITA than just a switch designed for that purpose.

Yes there is USAFRet. Thanks for asking. My DSL router is on the main floor of the house. I have a network wired slingbox in the basement hooked up to my cable box. I want to add a new stereo receiver to my network, so instead of feeding another cat5 cable down to the basement, I thought I would try and setup the Netgear down stairs and plug both the slingbox and the receiver into it.

Thanks for the quick response. I was just trying to use what I had on hand. I will look for one now or if you have any suggestions for a good one. I will then follow up when my setup is complete.
