Well, after tons of research crammed in along with my back to back 60 hour work weeks, I'm finally ready, I believe! Within the next hour, I'll be ordering everything here off of Amazon Prime!

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card
Motherboard: Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler
Storage (SSD): Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Storage (HDD): Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: Sony AD-7280S-0B DVD/CD Writer
Case: NZXT Phantom (Black/Green) ATX Full Tower Case

My only concern is the possibility of the massive CPU Cooler covering 2 of the memory slots! Does anybody know for sure if that will be the case and if there's a solution for it?

okay this is what i have buddy, very similar, few changes though.

That memory would obstruct your CPU fan if placed in the closest memory slots. However you have four slots and only 2 sticks. Put them in the 2 slots furthest from the CPU fan and you will be fine,

The case is more than large enough to accommodate the Noctua. The fact you even ask that question makes me think you haven't realised just how large the case actually is. It's a full-tower case. Your average pre-built desktop is mid-tower or smaller.

25.74" x 8.74" x 21.32" if you want to measure it out and see.

Build looks good though. Only thing I would question is whether you really need a gold rate PSU. You can pick up a Corsair TX750-V2 for $90 on Amazon and save yourself $30.

Oh, thanks much, both of you! Haha, it's less me not understanding how big the case is and more not understanding how big the fan is, since it's always commented on about being massive. Well, it's good to know the fan will fit, but it's unfortunate it will obstruct 2 RAM slots since I will eventually probably want to upgrade to 16 gb. Do we know for sure why it's obstructed? Is it the case's fault or mobo's fault? Wondering what needs to change to free up those 2 memory slots!

And that's why I'm sticking with the 750W Gold Corsair PSU, since I may use SLI/Crossfire in the future.

And I've picked this memory simply because I'm a Corsair fan and like the appearance and higher DDR3 Memory.

So yeah! If anyone has any solutions for those 2 obstructed memory slots, that'd be great! Also, I'm still curious about the difference between this Asus Mobo and the Evo version of it. Anyone know?

Oh sorry, missed your post Louie! I like the budget for that, but can you explain those changes for me please? Thanks for all the help!

Yes ofcourse i can, i choose the R9 280x over the gtx 770 because i think its somehow better, not a AMD fan boy at all, both cards trade blows punch for punch, but because you can pick the R9 280x cheaper i feel its better for the same performance in my eyes!, but its upto you buddy :) you go with what you think's best

With your motherboard choice, I'm guessing your not planning on going SLI with your gtx 770 for now. So I wouldn't get a 750W PSU, as something under 650W would be more then enough so you could save some money there.

For the EVO version it comes supports SLI and is a 990x chipset I believe. For the other asus boards as you go up in price, the PCI lanes change to the follow.

970 - x16,x4
990x - x16,x8,x4
990fx - x16,x16,x4

I would pick accordingly with how many graphics card with what you plan to use in the future. Otherwise I think performance in terms of overclocking should be the same or maybe better on the 990fx, someone can clarify this as I can't remember atm.

Oh, thanks much Louie! That's something to think about ^_^ I'll definitely have to decide when I get home.

And you're right Sportfreak, I don't plan on using SLI at first, but I think I will go ahead and plan for it for longevity and to save money in the long run. That's why I'm sticking with the Corsair 750W and trying so hard to free up those 2 other memory slots from my CPU Cooler XD Also I'm just a big Corsair fan ^_^

As for the Mobo information, most of that was nonsense to me O.O besides that I do need to get one for SLI support since I do plan on preparing for that for the future. Can you tell me more about the importance of the chipset and the PCI lanes?

And thanks so much so far everyone! I'm feeling super confident so far :D I'm definitely ordering tonight! I'm just still a bit worried about a couple things.

Mainly I'm worried about the CPU Cooler and the Mobo, but mainly the CPU Cooler, which I REALLY like, obstructing 2 of the memory slots. But I also want to be more informed about Mobos and general so I can be positive about the one I choose. I feel like I'll definitely need to spring for the Evo Asus Mobo for the SLI support, as long as it'll be worth it in the long run and will be compatible with everything.

Again, that's my main worry is compatibility. Could anyone reassure me that everything is compatible, will fit, and won't bottle-neck? I'd hate to get an underachieving Mobo that bottle-necks the performance of my CPU and GPU. Thanks much again everyone!

I personally didn't have a problem with CX series from corsair PSU. But people mention to me that it isn't as reliable line from Corsair. I would suggest the following PSU at 750W:

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1750bnlg9 <-----semi modular.

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ss760xp2 <-----fully modular.

Which ever you prefer, a fully modular usually leads to cleaner cable management. But the seasonic one is also 80+ plat. The XFX is manufractured by seasonic as well , just under another name so both are reliable.

About the mobo. Basically for SLI, nividia set a requirement that the lanes must run at x8 to get the performance you want. So if you plan on using 2 cards, you would go with the 990x.

e.g M5A99X EVO R2.0
1 card: PCI lane x16
2 card: PCI lane x8 dual

M5A97 R2.0:
1 card: PCI lane x16
2 card: PCI lane x4

A 990FX chip has both slots running at x16 which is the best but the difference is very little compare to both running at x8.

Hope I explained it a bit better as I have to go for a bit so hopefully someone can clarify ur questions. GL

Okay! So I believe this will be my last bump, as I'm purchasing everything within the hour :D

Here is my pcpartpicker link--feel free to give advice/criticism!
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2jYFW

My eyes will be glued to this thread for the next hour or so until I decide to buy everything. But so far, I'm extremely excited and confident in this build! Keep in mind, the 750W PSU is for my eventual 2nd GTX 770 for SLI.

Now the only thing I'm worried about is shipping! Luckily, everything I've chosen is eligible for free 2-day shipping with Amazon Prime, EXCEPT for the OS, lmao. Which I will very much need. That's going to be frustrating, waiting days (maybe weeks since it's the holiday season) for that OS to arrive. Any advice?

Otherwise, I'm extremely happy with everything that I've chosen! I realize that it's a bit more on the expensive side, but I feel like it's well worth it for the performance. Does anybody spot any potential bottlenecks?

Actually, I'm having a colossal problem with purchasing the tower from Amazon. Everything else is in the cart and ready to go, but when I hit "Add to Cart" for the tower, it takes me to a weird page that says

"ERROR
The request could not be satisfied

generated by cloudfront (CloudFront)"

This really sucks cause they already took the white version of this case off Amazon Prime yesterday and there are only 4 left of the one I want now. Anybody know how to fix this or what the issue even is? It seems to be restricted to only NZXT items on Amazon, but it is happening to every single NZXT product that I've clicked on. Everything else seems to be working fine.

Nevermind, called their customer service and they manually added it to the cart. All is well! Will be getting everything on Tuesday and I'm sure I'll be back for advice on actually putting it together ^_^ Thanks so much for your help everybody!
