Hello guys. I'm a newby to this forum so please go easy on me.

I have had a H100i cooler for a while now. I have had it on my 3570k and managed to overclock that baby to 5gGHz keeping the max temps under 70C. About 5 months ago, I have noticed that the temps were getting to 100C and I was shocked. I checked the pump and the fans and they are all working. I felt the tubes and I could feel the water move. So all I did it just underclock it to 4.2ghz. Recently, I bought a 3770k and sold my 3570k to a friend (I needed the hyperthreading) and installed the baby. I booted up windows and checked the temps and at IDLE THEY WERE AT 50C. I was pissed, thinking that it was another shitty CPU. After re-applying the thermal paste about 5 times and re-sitting the cooler PROPERLY, temps didn't change. I gave up and decided to install the stock cooler, I have checked the temps and at idle they were sitting at 30C.

In conclusion, for me, Intel stock cooler it better than the H100i. I'm going to be selling the H100i to a friend and pick up a NZXT Kraken X60. I don't want to do it, but this is they way I see things going.

Do you guys have a suggestion to what might be wrong with the H100i?

Obviously there is a problem with your H100, as it is well known to be very good cooler. However, the stock Intel cooler is just terrible.

Do you have 2 fans in push pull? Did you take the off the fans? Just wondering if the rad is plugged with dust.

I did everything right. Mounted correctly and and NO DUST. I air compressed it. Don't worry about thermal paste. I'm not a noob at watercooling and computer building. I did everything right.

So I can think of one thing that might be the cause, water takes a very long time to actually cool down, whereas copper can easily lose heat. I wonder if the boot sequence on the computer was just making the water start out hotter. Under no circumstance should that cooler be that hot having sat like that for awhile.
