First off, I dropped my laptop a week ago, might be related to this, but it was barely a couple feet and the surface that collapsed under it made more noise then the laptop on impact, but I thought I should mention it.

I started up my laptop today, and noticed that for whatever reason the BIOS menu popped up. It was a menu that was primarily blue with technical things like boot order and internal system time. I just navigated through it to close it, and it worked fine. I've noticed no negative side effects under normal use, but I'm concerned.

If it is a hardware thing, I'm using a Toshiba Satellite P70-A.

You have a problem with Battery if u dont have and shop near you can use your laptop like that but it can be dangerous while you are reinstalling you system.

Does the BIOS menu pop up every time you reboot it? Is there a chance one of the F# (e.g. F2) keys was being pressed or got stuck?

If the motherboard battery is bad or loose, your computer will forget the time and date every time it is powered off, and you would likely get a warning about the 'CMOS battery'.

Don't have one, hick town =l
Are you sure it's safe to do this to a laptop? I've heard it's harder to fiddle with them then a desktop

It didn't occur again, and I didn't get that message initially. Might be it.
