Issues with windows 8.1

I am green with windows 8.1 and very pissed with it, maybe someone can help me with a few issues. When I had windows 7 I had windows picture manager in there so I could compress pictures to send via e-mail or change other things with a photo, is picture manager available to get for 8.1. When I open up a picture in my e-mail it opens up in photo, then I need to come out of photo, go into desktop, go into e-mail and open another photo up, surely there is an easier way. Any other tips I get get to stop me throwing out the window would be appreciated.

You can set default programs the same way in 7 so it doesn't open the photo app. There may also be other metro apps set as default but once you get it all set you can stay in desktop and never worry about metro.

As for the picture manager, I can't really say as I never used it.

When you're in the start screen, just type 'photo view' and select 'choose a default photo viewer'

You should have 'Windows Photo Viewer' as an option, it's like sort of like Picture Manager, it shows up on Desktop.

If you have the Metro email app set up, and the photo app as your default viewer, you actually get a nice split screen happening if you open an email with several photos attached. Might be worth playing with.
