Hey everyone, first post

Last week i decided it was time to upgrade my computer, i went out and bought a Asus Crosshair V Formula Z and 2 AMD Sapphire R9 280x Toxic in Crossfire, my CPU is a AMD FX-8350 OC to 4.7Ghz. What i have noticed lately is that when i play BF4 Ultra mode at 1080p my CPU usage is at around 80%+ and both of my 280x run at 30-40% AND im only getting 30-50FPS.

What seems to be the problem here? Is BF4 really hard on CPUs?

Specs:
CPU: FX-8350 @ 4.7
Cooler: Corsair H110
RAM: Kingston Hyper X Blu
PSU: Corsair HX1050
GPU's: Sapphire R9 280x Toxic
Case: Cooler Master 932 Haf

Which OS you are using now? If you are at Win7 upgrading to win 8.1 does boosts performance in BF4, also win8.1 already had the optimizations for AMD FX series CPU. So combined advantages you should get considerable boost in performance in BF4 just by upgrading to windows 8.1. Also use the latest GPU drivers from AMD

I am using windows 7, and the latest Drivers, would switching OS really help that much? Would you think that my Motherboards drivers could us a updated?(I used the CD that came with it)

Are you using the latest beta catalyst drivers?
Have you updated your BIOS?
Are both 8 pins on the GPU each connected to the PSU?

The 8350 @ 4.7 is more than enough..

Yes I'm running the latest beta Drivers, the Motherboard drivers were updated last week by the Motherboard CD that it came with(could be old?) I just bought the motherboard tho. yes both 8 pins are connected to the PSU

Try win 8.1 with latest drivers from AMD. Your system seems no problem to handle the BF4 @ Ultra getting 60+ Fps

This will sound silly but the BF4 installer doesn't automatically install DirectX. If you go in to the game files folder and run the DXSetup you will find that game performance improves dramatically.

I to am having the fps issues 50-60, same cpu similar setup, when i disable crossfire I 90 fps+... I have been building high-end gaming pc for almost 10 years, and have heard CF graphics cards have this issue but, my friend has a similar setup only diff is that he is Intel, 4770k, he has dual 280x and his frames stay over 100...

Ya it's weird to think that the FX8350 can't handle these GPUs in CF while playing BF4 but it seems to be the case. Tho I have played with Mantle now and only use up 50% usage but it's still very buggy(but works).
