Am doing a home build, had everythign set up out of case to do a test boot. After powering it up i got a silent speaker. I went through all the steps in the troubleshooting thread.

After pulling all the parts out but the CPU i did get a post beep, three long ones indicating a memory issue. After pulling it out and retrying in differnet slots, or one at a time i continued to get silent post beeps with the memory.

SO i ran down to the local FRYs electrionics to get more memory, popped them in and got the same issue of silence.

So is this a MOBO issue, i did get the initial post beeps, or is it a memory issue?

I should note i also tried a different PSU i know for fact works, and still a silent speaker with the memory in.

Im just not sure what it would be, seeing as how i DO get a post beep without the memory but i have tried two different sets of RAM

THe post beep speaker, the PC does not boot at all or reach the POST screen.

I do get a post beep without memory in with three long beeps indicating a memory issue.

However ive tried TWO pairs of RAM and have the issue with no beep at all.

So im not sure if its the MOBO, because i do get the initial post beep without the memory or the Memory but ive tried two sets of them.

Ive also tried a secondary PSU i know for a fact works and i have the same issue. Three beeps without the Memory, silent with the memory.

THe memory is also in the correct slots for dual-slot and ive tried just using one in every slot.

No beeps should suggest there is not an issue.
Silence is normal.
Does the CPU fan start up ok and motherboard lights come on?
Are you sure you don't have a display output problem?
Are you using a graphics card or integrated graphics through the motherboard connector?

CPU fan starts up, lights come on, GPU starts up and lights.

Pretty sure i dont have GPU issue because ive used it in a previous build and stored it very safely until now. Its only about a year old anyways.

I dont get any post screen at all in the boot, no post beep to indicate its working, nor do i get any signal on the monitor.

I also dont get any beeps with the memory in and the GPU out. None to indicate a GPU issue or disconnect even with it not in.

Im using an ASROCK Z77 Extreme, Radeon 7750 Twin Frozr, i5-2500k, ModXStream-Pro Power Supply 700W, GSkill 8gb RAM or Corsair 8GB RAM.

Can you hear the hard drive starting up as well?
Try removing the graphics card and testing with the monitor cable attached to the motherboard connector.
Monitor cable should be attached to the graphics card if the card is installed, not to the motherboard connecter.

I dont have hard drive in at the moment as i was doing it breadbox before i put it in the case. I was just trying to get a post screen before i connected the Harddrive and everything else.

I have not tired connecting the monitor cable to the motherboard with the GPU in.

actually at post you should get 1 short beep for a normal post. on ami bios which is the most prevalent.
you should get a different beep code if no gpu is connected normally 1 long and 2 or 3 short (again depending on bios)
with no ram installed you should get 3 short beeps or a screeching depending on the bios.
