Something similar and gui friendly would be nice, as I presume that since the distro is likely to be free or mostly free that the cost of the laptop would be at least somewhat noticeably cheaper.
I'm looking for something in the <$550 range, although I can increase that by a smidge but only if it's really worth it. I'd be using it for programming mainly as I want to get into C, I also want to potentially use it as an "off" computer for whatever tasks come up that I wouldn't want to use my main computer for (hosting servers for web sites, small multi-player games, and other such stuff. I may also use this for future video editing).
I also would like the capability to comfortably play some less-demanding modern games on the lowest or lower settings, if at all possible, when I have to travel. My desktop will be my main game machine but with steam, wine, and crossover I think I can expect a reasonable availability, and also free software helps too of course.
Thank you for reading and thank you more if you respond!
