Absolutely get the FX-6300. It's one of the best budget gaming CPUs for your money. Especially if you put an overclock on it.

Okay, well there's a difference between the motherboard you linked and the MSI board of the same product line that has an AM3+ socket. If your board is the one from the Amazon link, then this is not your motherboard.

Make absolutely sure which is your motherboard, because the AM3+ CPUs have one more pin than the AM3 socket, and thus will not physically fit. No BIOS upgrade can change that.

I guess I should have just looked up the MSI 760GM. Amazon got the specifications wrong. Your motherboard DOES support the FX-6300 :) http://www.msi.com/product/mb/760GM-P23--FX-.html#/?div=CPUSupport

Someone should show Amazon the error of their ways :p
