Hi community.

Thanks for reading my thread. First of all I'm really sorry if you find any mistake in my english. I have the following specs on my computer (6 years old, I own it since oct-2007):

  • Mobo: Asus P5K-E Wifi/Ap
    Processor: Intel Core2Quad q6600
    Memory: 4 x Corsair XMS2 DHX L4 1GB DDR2
    PSU: ---
    HDD: 2x seagate 500 gb + an old pata seagate of around 180 gb
    Graphic card: Zotac Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti (former graphic card: PoV geforce gts 8800 exo)

I was to downgrade the BIOS, because I had several problems while OCing with asus NOS (overclocking failed, please restore setup defaults, and so on), also date&time problems (today i've woken up in 2059 LOL). So I started Asus Update, applied to install bios from a file... Suddenly, a message appeared telling me that the bios couldn't be applied (an older version couldn't be flashed). I restarted the computer and boom:

I'm facing a boot loop: every time when I power on the computer, everything seems to be OK but after 5 seconds, it suddenly reboots.

I've replaced the battery, but it still boot-looping... I also tried to restore CMOS with the jumpers. What else can I do?

A friend of mine tells me that it seems the PSU is faulty...

PS: i do not remember which PSU I own. I will update information when i reach home.

Solution
You've ignored the BIOS write failure message and suffered the consequences.
Next time you get that message flash a different one until one is successful. if you don't, you'll have no BIOS or a very corrupt one.
The easiest way to fix this is to order a bios chip off of eBay.

I think the problem is from the BIOS crash when you try to update the BISO, you can try to take out the CMOS battery for 5-10min, and put it back. During that time you can get read to use the "crashfree bios3 utility" to recover the BIOS by using the support CD and USB drive check the manual section 4.1.4 page 4-7.
This is only way you can do to use the PC again, because the PC does not boot at all but the PC is getting the power in the video.

If you don't have the support CD, may try to contact asus or ebay.

I can't access POST process, so how would my computer read any cd/dvd/usb flash drive?

Thanks mate! I've found anyone around my place who has electronical know-how. The thing is thew following: is the bios (whose link you provided me) preprogrammed? I mean, whether I need it to be programmed or no. So if the answer is no, I would be able to solve that problem...

THANKS!

It says
"* Brand new pre-programmed chip
* 100 % compatible
* 100 % verified programming"
So being pre-programmed, it should work perfectly.

I forgot to type the solution. As some mates told me, I needed a preflashed Bios.I bought one on ebay and a relative of mine (who had electronic tools) replaced the old one. It worked from since until nowadays. Thank you!
