Hey All

First off, I just wanted to say hello as I am a newbie.

Secondly, here is my system,

Thermaltake VG4000 Series Super ATX Tower Xaser VI case
Intel Q9650 3.0 Ghz, 12 Mb cache, 45nm, Quad core processor
Intel DP45SG Extreme Series motherboard
Western Digital Blue 1Tb Sata hard drive
4 gbs Crucial PC3-10600 DDR31333Mhz memory - 2X2 gbs sticks
Asus GTX 260 video card
OCZ Xtreme liquid cooling system
Sony Optiarc Blu-Ray reader + DVD+-RW dual layer optical drive
LG DVD+-RW dual layer optical drive
OCZ Stealth Xtreme 600 watt power supply
Saitek Cyborg keyboard
Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. 9 wireless mouse
Monsoon MM-1000 2.1 Flat Panel Computer Speakers
Sony 32" XBR 7 LCD Flat screen
Windows 7 64bit Pro operating system.

Just so you know I am mainly am a FPS gamer!

I am looking at upgrading my video card to a EVGA GTX 760 4gb for about $330 Canadian and I need to upgrade my memory. I was told that this motherboard can hold up to 16 gb's in four slots but I am not sure, Intel says 8 gb's, which, for now is fine.

Should I just buy 2 X 2gb's to match what I already have? Or is 2 X 4gb's better and if so should I buy better memory?

Also some say to upgrade my power supply and other's say not too. I take apart my tower at least once every year and give it a extreme cleaning and lube my cooling fans, since it seems to prolong their life and I take care of my stuff. Recently I took apart my keyboard and ran it through the dishwasher on a low heat cycle and it is preforming excellent again(I know, crazy right)

Any help in this is greatly appreciated and Merry Christmas to all and to all, happy computing!

Garth

Solution
go ahead with the upgrades. you will however find that the cpu is starting to show it's age............. I still wouldn't buy memory for a machine that will have to be replaced because of the cpu.

The 32" is 1080p, via HMDI. I need to go to 8 gbs of ram for some of the newer games and I thought I should future proof the card while I was at it.

Thanks Swifty, I will just get the same 2 sticks of ram for now, then do a full rebuild in a couple of years.
