Hello, guys,
I have a question regarding mixing memory sticks in quad channel. My mobo is http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3164#ov.
On duel channel I have x2 Apacer 2gb 1333mhz sticks and the other 2 slots are empty. What ram should i buy in order to make it to 8 GB ? Will it work if I buy another x2 sticks for the 2 extra free slots from a different brand than Apacer? Will it work if the new x2 sticks of RAM are higher than my x2 old Apacer 1333mhz?
Thanks :)

You don't have quad channel, that requires a very expensive processor and motherboard, like a server. Don't worry though, what you are proposing will work, just make sure the identical ram chips are in the same colored slots. If your new ram is faster than your old it will do you no good, it will have to underclock to the speed of your old ones. You could see if your old ram will overclock though.

As far as I know the difference between 1333 and 1600 is very little so should i buy x2 1600 and try to overclock the x2 1333 Apecer ones, or should i just buy x2 - for example Corsair 1333? :) Thanks
