After turning on my computer today it ran a check disk and then booted in safe mode. I ran virus and malware scans that both found nothing so I decided to reboot and now I get a desktop manager program error.

I've run the sfc /scannow command and got the file from that but I don't know what I am looking for in that. I'll post the file here if I can. Honestly to me it's just a bunch of text.

What anti-virus and anti malware products are you running? On what Operating systems?
Generally Malwarebytes Antimalware is the best independent system check. Free version is fine.
Second is run CCleaner and or Iorbit Advanced System Care. I've had good luck using ASC6 not so certain of ASC7 (Touted as W8 optimized).
Alternative, or if ASC does not restore registry, is a clean reinstall of Windows.
You can go to safe mode and have Windows do a repair. I've never had much luck with this, but it may be specific to me.

Sorry about leaving some of that info out, I'm just a little frustrated as I've been having so many problems with my computer lately. I will be upgrading almost everything soon though so hopefully that will fix everything.

But right now I'm using windows 7. Then scans were with Malwarebytes as you posted and with Microsoft Security Essentials. I used to have AVG about a month ago but I've had to restore my hard drive so many times and I had problems with it not scanning or updating at all. I'll get CCleaner and Iorbit now and post back after those are done.

Update: I scanned with both CCleaner and Advanced System Care but after reboot I still get an error for Desktop Manager has stopped working. And running the sfc scan again still had the same errors. I just say the part about a clean install of windows, but I really don't want to do that again because in the past two weeks i've had to eight or nine times. :( I do have a brand new SSD but if I can I really want to wait until I get everything for an upgrade to install that with windows 8.
