Hey all!
With the next generation of consoles hitting the market I figured it's about time I do a PC upgrade. My main focus area is my cpu, gpu, and RAM. Right now I'm running an i3 2100 with a Radeon HD 6850. It has served me well, but unfortunately can't pump out those 1080p graphics for much longer. My main concern is my motherboard. It is far from extravagant and can be found by following this link: http:// As you can see it only supports LGA 1155 which concerns me. I don't want to have to go with a new motherboard if I don't have to because that would mean a new OS too and at that point I might as well start a new rig.

So my question is, did I back myself into a corner with this motherboard? Are there any processors that I can grab that can pump out more than enough power for this generation of consoles. My main concern is the Witcher 3 which is certainly going to be taxing. Right now I was thinking a 2500k, but just wanted to get the opinion of this forum. Am I stuck with Sandy Bridge processors? I'm looking for a new gpu too, but figured I'd wait for the Maxwell line. Any advice is much appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read.

Figured I'd list the rest of my specs.

Thank you for the quick response! That processor looks wonderful. For some reason I didn't realize that Ivy was compatible as well. My PSU is 620W. Do you think that this will be enough? Obviously the Maxwell info hasn't been released, but just ball parking for a mid tier card. And yes 8gb of Ram is at the top of my list. Thanks again.

Thank you for your time! You have been tremendously helpful and I really appreciate it. The only question I have left is, what would you would suggest for RAM? I know ripjaw is very solid if not a tad expensive. I never feel 100% on RAM compatibility.

What do you have now? 2 sticks of 2gb ram?
The G.Skill Ripjaw is not that expensive. You can get 8gb for $57.99 here. Well when it's back in stock:) It's fully compatible with your motherboard
