Hello again,

I built my friend a PC and got the next parts:
-R9 280X
-AMD FX-8320
-ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0
-WD 1Tb Green 7200
-XFX Pro Core 550W
-Crucial 8Gb 1333mhz
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Anyway, I built the thing, put on windows and then he said It soon after started freezing. So, I came over and ran Memtest for cca. 6hours, multiple passes, no problems, then i noticed the HDD led actin' weird... The thing is, even when writing/reading something from the Hard drive the light is sometimes still off. Sometimes (when testing the HDD, installing windows ect.) the LED CONSTANTLY shines, then when when I'm browsing the internet or downloading League of legends to his PC (HE PLAYS IT, NOT ME!!) the light is abnormal... Either blinking fast, or just being off completely with rare blinks for a milisecond. When this starts it usually freezes and the light: OFF Completely. I changed the SATA cable, power cable, changed sata ports, ect. nothing works. It never lasted more than 1 hour of not freezing. After that 1 hour the time intervals of freezing are anywhere between 10min to 30min after logon.

Here's the catch: When Im running WD Diagnostics tool it can run the test 6 hours great, LED always on. It passed both extended and quick test twice. NO errors. Trying to rule out the CPU/GPU, I played a 15min match of singleplayer LOL (the only game he had), and it ran great.

Windows 7 installation also ran really good, no freezing, ect...
He then told me these problems happened AFTER updating windows. So, i COMPLETELY reinstalled windows and it ran good for about 1 1/2 hours and then crashed again, while watching youtube.

All motherboard drivers are installed.

If you need more info, ask, but really... I've tried everything... I have NO IDEA what the heck it could be...

Thanks.

It's not actually a BSOD. Just everything feeezes. The cursor cant move, nothing. Then you need to force restart.

I'm sending that Hard Drive for RMA. It didnt pass another test, and to me, its almost 100% the Hdd. It freezes down when the drive led is completely off until a reboot.

I went inside the case and checked for every screw, tightened them all and therefore i doubt it's a electrical Short. No offence, but I'll start with the HDD.

Thanks for the support, I'll get back when i find out more.

You do realize that the green is more of a storage drive, it goes to sleep after a few minutes of not being accessed regardless of the windows power settings, and that its a bit over 5400 rpm, not 7200rpm at all.
You want blue or black as your OS drive if you want Western Digital.

No, sorry its a WD Blue. When ordering, the item said WD green, however, when you'd put it in the basket it went to a WD Blue. I know, because when putting it out of the HDD cage, it aalways had a Blue background and said WD Blue. Sorry for that bit of info being wrong...

Could this help you in any way?

Again, sorry, it's a WD blue, and a new one came in today from RMA. I'm installing it in 1 or 2 days. Anyway, this is the code i got once...
