Gotta a bud who has a Win7 32 bit Ultimate OS low profile PC and was wondering how much RAM would be a good fit. No sense doing the over kill thing.

Solution
If it's 32 bit having more than 4GB is pointless, since a 32 bit OS can't read more than three and change GB. In general, even for 64 bit OS 8GB is more than enough for most uses.

yes as SchizTech mentioned a 32bit operating system can only read up to 4gb's but a 64bit os can read 4gb & beyond
example 8gb/16gb/32gb and so on..
hope this helped.

thanks digit_I...had a bud that I installed 6gb of pc3 10600 cards (1x2gb & 1x4gb) on his craptop that had 3gb (1x1gb & 2x2gb) from the factory. I am wishing against hope that this will suffice. I believe he was trying to do a ramdisk thing and previously was getting a 'you do not have enough memory' message but that ramdisk thing is beyond my expertise.

i would like to answer you question for ya but i don't know much on laptop's
I'm Sorry but there is a whole community here to help you :)

got a good laugh on that craptop rather than laptop lol

i'm sure if you get ( example ) two kits of 2x4gb=8gb kits and they have the same amount of gb / cas latency & timings there would be a 50 percent chance of them working together. but i am not sure of mixing 2gb & 4gb to get 6gb total it may or may not work there may be some sort of chance to play with i'd say

Got some buds I game with on TeamSneak3 (another take off on TeamSpeak) and they all call laptops craptops; they take 'em on the road when they go out of town so we can have our tournaments and what not. I just happened to have some cards left over from my craptop upgrade went from 6 to 8 got two Samsung DDR3 PC3 10600's 2x4gb matching the 6gb cards I had (using good ole Speccy) and had those left over and stuck 'em in an acquaintances upgraded laptop have no clue what his OS was before the upgrade but thinking it was 32 bit because of the 3gb OEM cards. He by what I've learned here should be fine.
