I'm currently using a crappy laptop hardrive for my gaming desktop, could that effect my RAM's read and write speeds? especially write speeds because mine are pretty low.

Thanks :)

Solution
A slow hard drive will not affect your memory's speed, but..
When your system needs to swap out some of its memory to the hard drive (called the pagefile, or virtual memory) your system's performance will be constrained by the speed of the hard drive.

I would not recommend using a laptop hard drive in a desktop. they are just too slow especially if its one of those 5400 rpm drives if you have ever used an external hard drive that comes in those cases? they are just laptop hard drives shoved in a case with a bus thats it .. even if they advertise usb 3.0 or anything like that unless its an ssd drive it will never saturate that data transfer capacity. i doubt a laptop drive could feed a your ram fast enough especially if its a really crappy one..
