Hey everyone, I helped a friend install a new Graphics card and a new PSU today. Since we installed the PSU, his monitor and fans will just stop running/turn off, and I don't know what the problem is. I had him switch to a direct outlet (he was using a strip) and I'm waiting to hear back if it solves the problem. It sounds to me like an overheating problem, but I'm not sure how I could fix that. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

It is possible the power supply is defective.
You would need a power supply tester to be certain. Try testing it in your machine, of use your PSU in his to verify.
Otherwise, you may need to take it to a shop that can properly diagnose it.

Its possible that the PSU is overheating and shutting down. It might be worth your while to have the PSU tested to see if that's your problem.
