I just came back home for break and tried to connect my custom made desktop throgh WiFi. Normally I use Ethernet but this past summer I used WiFi without many problems. Every few minutes I lose WiFi. I am not sure why but I keep having to unplug and re-plug and sometimes restarting my PC in order to get it back. I updated my BIOS, tried using a different adapter, and uninstalled and re installed the adapter driver. The power setting is set to performance. This is incredibly inconvenient since the only room I can plug into ethernet is my brothers. I'm a gamer and he has to sleep. Currently I am using a Linksys Router and a Netgear adapter. I tried using a linksys adapter but nothing changed. I used my Netgear adapter all summer with no issues. So please help me out. When I lose WiFi it will either show up as a limited connection or not at all. Sometimes it won't even recognize that I plugged in the adapter. I tried every USB slot but I get the same response. I am using Windows 8.1, Asrock 970 Extreme 3, UEFI BIOS, AMD FX 6300. All of the PC's components are 8 months old.

Edit: Distance is not a factor. I tried it 40 feet away and 10 feet away from the router.
Edit: Both adapters work just fine. Another PC used them with no issues at both distances.
Edit: I am currently using the Netgear WNA3100 N300 Wireless USB Adapter
Edit: I am using free AVG Virus Protection.

As stated in the above scenario, I have tried all of these things.
