Ok, so I'm pretty sure my parents don't really care if I buy a pc, but they probably won't let me build one. So, I just need to find an online business that lets me customize it but they build it for me. I can tell you right now, that I know not to buy one prebuilt from walmart best buy. They lure you in with good processors but they have sucky graphics cards. They're overpriced too. Anyway, does anyone know of a business? Thanks!

I dont think you will find one for that. 400 is very low end for custom pc. It can be done but will have to sacrifice on some things. Even building one yourself will eat that up pretty quick.

Well, I'm not rich. So , could I find a used one that was pretty good?

Please define "pretty good" for me please. You can find a "good" new PC desktop for everyday computing, like web surfing, multimedia, with some modern hardware for $400. For anything else, like gaming, even light to moderate gaming, you'll pay $600+ retail for a prebuilt. There are tons of decent used laptops out there, 2-3 years old with somewhat current hardware for around that price if you look on someplace like Craigslist, Amazon, or eBay, but I am weary of recommending buying any kind of technology unseen without testing it for yourself if you aren't really familiar with hardware.

That said, like te100 mentioned, you're better off buying from someplace like Dell. When I worked in IT, we were a Dell reseller and bought some pretty sweet workstations for around $500-600. You can go cheaper and get it under $500, but you'll sacrifice hardware specs. If you head over to Dell, they have PC's like the Inspiron 660 with an Intel i3 with some decent hardware specs 4 GB RAM 1 TB hard drive. Figure on better specs for around $100-120 more for the upgrade to an i5 and 8 GB RAM. They have sales all the time, hundreds off sometimes. If you want high-performance computing, plan on getting in the door for no less than $700 with discounts.

Hope that helps!
Nick.

Depends on your goals; if you're gaming, no.

If you want to game on your system, $400 will not cut it. $600 might get you an OK system, but $400 will not. Stay away from Alienware, they do not offer much customization and they are extremely overpriced. I would honestly save up some more money and get a system from CyberPower PC or build your own. Building your own is your cheapest option, and it's fairly easy even though it may seem hard at first.
