Don't fall for any magical driver finders that fish round in your system to see what they can sell you. The only safe place is the manufacturer's website and if you go to http:/www.dell.com or your country's local Dell site, and go to Support and Drivers. On the case of your laptop is a label withe the Service Tag printed on it. Input that in the appropriate box on the site and you'll be led to the precise drivers for the equipment installed on your specific laptop.

If you didn't have a Dell, you cold look in Device Manager and right click the entry you wanted a driver for then go to Properties, then click the Details tab. Scroll to HardwareIDs and take a note of the four characters which follow VEN for Vendor and also the...

what should i download to update my driver? this is the info of my laptop
Inspiron 1501
AMD Athlon(tm) 64X2
Dual-Core Processor TK-53
1.70 GHz, 1.87 GB of RAM

normally you would download it online and install it through the device manager, if this is more than youd want to learn right now, Slimdrivers is a program you install, its free, and checks all your drivers for you. What version of windows are you running?

Go to http://www.pcidatabase.com and input those characters in the two relevant boxes and follow the trail to the right driver. When you find the list of the Vendor's drivers, they aren't in order so use your browser's Find facility to track the Device details. With luck you'll have an executable file but some will be a zipped folder.
