Any Disadvantages Of Having A Bigger PSU Than Needed

Like the title says, are there disadvantages of having a PSU that is a lot more powerful than the system actually needs? No doubt I will get a Seasonic 80 PLUS Platinum-rated PSU for my build, just wanted to know if I will lose any efficiency going with too big of a power supply.

FYI, I am currently in the process of researching components for my build and I am not planning to over-clock anything and I will also be running a single graphics card.

Thanks guys!

No, there's not any disadvantage of having a bigger psu than needed. It would do you only good. Psu will only draw power as much as it needs it may be a 550watt psu supplying full 500w to your machine or it may be a 1000w psu supplying only 550w power to your pc, giving you a lot of headroom to oc or sli/cf. But, don't just consider it's capacity but also it's efficiency and above all quality. I mean I will be buying a $90 600w psu which is gold-silver rated rather than buying $80 700w psu bronze (or unrated) psu. Although bronze rated is more than enough quality you need.
All I wan't to say is except the extra cost, bigger psu will do no loos to you.
optimal efficiency is when a PSU is between 60-80% load.

that said, for a high quality PSU, the efficiency at other load points are all pretty good (especially for platinum). if you can afford it, it's a good investment for future upgrades
