I sent the following message to supermicro support. Maybe someone here will know better. I will post any response I get back from supermicro.

Supermicro X9SAE-V Motherboard - Intel C216 - Socket H2 LGA-1155
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182717
1 VGA and 2 HDMI
Xeon E3-1200 v2, Core i7/i5/i3 (non-ECC UDIMMs only), Pentium & Celeron

I like the MB because it has ECC, USB 3.0 and hi-res video port. I have a few questions, I appreciate your time:

-----------------

It says that it requires a CPU integrated with GPU to make the VGA / HDMI work. But I can't find which ones those are.

Can you list which cpu categories support onboard graphics?
If I use the right cpu, can I attach one DVI monitor to an HDMI port?
If I use the right cpu, can I attach two monitors, one to each HDMI?

----------------------

The text "Core i7/i5/i3 (non-ECC UDIMMs only)" is confusing, if you can clarify.

Do Core i7/i5/i3 chips support ECC on this MB?
If yes, which generations?
If no, which cpu categories do support ECC on this MB?

------------------------

Finally, does this MB also support Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux?

Thanks,
Daniel

Thanks for replying. I don't understand. What is the list?

I know which processors support the motherboard. But some of them support it differently. My question is:

1) which processor groups allow the onboard video ports to work, and how many monitors.
2) which processor groups allow ECC RAM to work.

The motherboard specs are fuzzy on these two issues.

The main processors I'm interested in are i3 / i5 / i7 core, to help narrow it down.

That still doesn't seem to tell me what I need.

For the "integrated graphics", it says in the footnote: "This feature may not be available on all computing systems. Please check with the system vendor to determine if your system delivers this feature, or reference the system specifications (motherboard, processor, chipset, power supply, HDD, graphics controller, memory, BIOS, drivers, virtual machine monitor-VMM, platform software, and/or operating system) for feature compatibility. Functionality, performance, and other benefits of this feature may vary depending on system configuration." That's why I'm asking for clarification.

For the ECC question, I see no mention.

Thanks
