Hi,

I'm planning to buy a second monitor. I will only be using 1 monitor for gaming and the other one is for facebook/movies/ temperature monitoring etc....

My question is, would that affect the performance of my gaming? What are the benefits/disadvantages of dual monitors?

MY specs:
CPU: i5 4670k
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600
GPU: Sapphire r9 280x Vapor-X 3GB 384-bit
PSU: Corsair RM850w

Please advise,

Thanks

It may affect you gaming experience but since r9 280x is a very powerful card, you won't notice between fullscreen and windowed gaming.
If you really scared of lower performance, you may buy one more r9 280x and do crossfire for even better experience.

Thanks for the answer. Just to clarify, if I will use two monitors and only using 1 for gaming, I have to do windowed mode?

Yes, if you run the game in fullscreen mode, the game will run on two monitors A.K.A Eyefinity

You could disable eyefinity in CCC and see if that works.
Sorry i am no expert on Eyefinity but hope that helps you
