Hello

I recently installed (like 5 days ago) the ASUS DirectCU II OC GeForce GTX 770 graphics card into my system.

Since then I have really have had none stop problems that I have been trying to fix on my own but only to have the problem re-present itself in a less violent new way.

When I first got the card I would constantly have graphic driver fails, BSODs relating to graphics, static, and lose of screen (requiring full restart). Just sitting on the desktop.

I updated the graphics drivers and the BSODs and problems being present on desktop go away. However In game would crash near instant.

I updated the VBIOS and then I was able to run Batman Arkham City GOTY bench-marking utility no problems how ever in game I would get static sometimes and display driver fails (on every range of detail).

I updated NVIDIA Geforce game driver (now I'm unable to play batman again)

I can play Borderlands 2 and Portal 2 however randomly I am still subject to static sometimes followed by screen flickers (which weirdly causes my sound to fault out a bit) sometimes followed by lose of display forcing me to restart my system.

I have tested the graphics card multiple times through FurMark without any problems and the max temp I have gotten is 83C which vary quickly dropped back down to around 32C after testing.

My computer specs are:

CPU: AMD FX 6-Core (3.3GHz)
Mainboard: ASRock 990FX Extreme4
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB DDR3)
Video Card: ASUS DirectCU II OC Geforce GTX 770
Hard Drive: ??? unsure but its getting replaced soon.
Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart 550W
Operating System: Windows 8Pro 64-Bit

From what I was told my graphics card should work in my mother board so I haven't considered that a problem and that my power supply should be good enough to run my graphics card however I do have a new 1350W PSU (along with a new 1TB HDD) on its way to me (eta Wednesday) in case that might be the problem (also preparing for future upgrades)

In the short: While playing games I am randomly subject to some form of static, screen flickers, and/or lose of display. I have tried updating drivers and have not really had any luck and I am out of ideas kinda. Any suggestion on what to do/try next?

The tweaker wouldn't let me back it off that much but its now at 1010MHz (Default 1111) for the core and 5510MHz (Default 7010) for the memory.

I was able to run the benchmark test in Batman again and play around a bit in Borderlands 2 without my common problems.

But I do notice an occasional small graphical shudder/lag...

The memory should be at 7008Mhz effective. 1752 base memory clock quadrate = 7008Mhz.

Try MSI Afterburner it will allows a bigger range for you to set the core clock.

If the problems go away then it means your card had been running unstable. If you hadn't been overclocking beyond the factory set speeds, you should RMA the card because it is unable to run as advertised.

I returned the graphics card settings to its default, and installed MSI Afterburner Like you Suggested. However the range that im allowed to decrease the default settings is still the same.

Then I a thought passed over me "Hay lets try playing a game at the default settings again" and I followed that thought and had no issues/problems, which i find interesting. I restarted my system and started playing again on the graphics cards default setting and still no problem has presented itself after playing Batman for over 2 hours on Extreme video settings.

So the problems has disappeared since that initial lowering of the graphic's cards settings and did not return when I brought the settings back up to the default... So now I'm kinda confused and a little skeptical that the problem is gone for good.

Edit/Update: Problem finally returned after a while. Am I safe to assume that it is unstable and to RMA it or is there anything else to try?
