AMD FX-4100 shows only 2 cores?

I recently updated to windows 8.1 pro and task manager shows only 2 cores instead of 4.
Windows 7 displayed 4 cores.

CPU: AMD FX-4100 Quad Core 3.6 Ghz
MB: Asus m5a78l-m lx v2
GPU: ATi Radeon HD 6670 DDR 5

if resource monitor shows 4 (parked or not) then you should be fine. its because fx uses modules, 2 cores per module so it says 2 cores (modules) resource monitor is the ultimate answer. for me with 7 like I said I had a hard time getting my fx to show all 6 in there. it was usually 3 cores with 1 parked but in 8 I have all 6. I tried several installs of 7 but sadly only 1 or 2 (of about 5) would show all my cores. If you want to unpark the cpu you can look into that.

open resource monitor to make sure. go to the cpu tab and it should show 4 cores. I had a similar issue with my 6300 but it was with 7 and its why i went to 8. 7 would only show 3 cores, not 6 logical and 3, just straight 3 cores after a wipe it showed 6 then after I got everything updated it showed 3, I just got 8 since it runs faster anyway.

But Windows 7 showed 4 Cores. (I'm sorry , i am not an expert in Hardware and stuff :p ).


@chairsgotoschool I'm already using windows 8.1
and i checked the resource monitor it shows 4 cores ,2 are parked.

Thanks man, resource monitor showed 4 cores 2 parked
I unparked them.
