I have all these parts now to build my son his first gaming machine. He won't be playing high spec games as he will have a ps4 at some point.

Are these parts ok together? I got the RAM secondhand, but have noted that it's faster than my cpu recommends - is this going to be a problem or will it run slower to the speed the cpu works at? the RAM is kingston hyperX genesis 2133mhz, which is not on pcpart picker, so i put one on that has the same speed:

CPU Intel Core i3-4330 3.5GHz Dual-Core £95.79
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-H87-HD3 ATX LGA1150 £74.24
Memory Kingston Predator Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 £71.99
Storage Kingston 60GB 2.5" SSD £62.46
Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB 3.5" 5400RPM £46.92
Video Card Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB £67.90
Case Aerocool StrikeX-GT Black ATX Mid Tower £59.59
Power Supply Corsair 430W ATX12V £37.10
Optical Drive Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer £11.98
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)

Most of these parts ware already wrapped under the tree, just waiting for psu, dvd drive, cpu and OS

Thanks

Your RAM should be fine and run at lower speeds.

I´d probably go for a more power GPU but the one you picked is ok, too.

Also, I don´t know how much power the GPU draws. Are you sure a 430W PSU is enough for that?

according to Sapphire, the recommended psu for the gpu is 450W. Now which figure do I go on, the estimate on pcpartpicker or that of Sapphire?

If the latter I will have to send back my corsair and buy another:(

just an update, 8 months in, PC running fine now, although my son is saying its a bit slow as he is now attempting to do graphics work - rendering I think. Is the I3 slowing it down, if so will he benefit from an I5?
thanks
