Maxtor 3200 does not work

I have a Maxtor 3200 and so does my wife. Same plug ins and all. Hers works , mine does not show the light at start up and does not show in device manager. have done reboot and everything else in the forums. Just need to get the files off this Drive.

Sounds like the USB converter took a dump. The hard drive is probably fine. You can either 1) Open it up and conenect it to your PC internally though an IDE cable or swap the hard drive in your Wifes working unit, copy the files over, and then put your wifes hard drive back in or buy a new external case for it that supports IDE
