I will be running a Corsair TX650 PSU with a light load of an intel corei5 4440 3.1 GHz processor, an Asus Z87-A (motherboard, a MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 video card, 8 GB (2x4 GB) RAM, a Toshiba 120GB SSD, a WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive, with 4 additional case fans. According to calculators this is a 450 watt power draw.

I also have an LED monitor drawing 130 VA.

This means I have a 580W draw according to calculators, but it is a 650 Watt PSU and a 100 Watt monitor. If I can get away with a 600 W UPS it will save me a bit of cash. I only need a few minutes of backup for shutdown if power goes out.

What is the mimimum safe UPS Battery Backup rating I should purchase?

Uninterrupted power supplies are separate power sources that don't take into account what your actual computer wattage usage is. They act as power generators that will generate enough power for you to save all your data and shut down your PC safely.

Thank you. I suspected something like this. All the reading I have been doing is asking for huge UPS that seem more commercial grade then home use.I am still hoping for one or two more good response for confirmation.

g-unit1111, I am not sure what point you are trying to make in relation to my question.
