I Plan on buying a 2nd MSI R9 280x later on next year. Will this Motherboard be able to crossfire them? GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3. I heard it only has one x16 and 1 x4 which seems pointless to me but then again i dont really understand conponents that well yet.

More about : crossfire properly

Bro if you're going to SLI them on this mobo, the 2nd GPU will run at x4 . It won't scale well as x8 and x8, but you'll be losing about just 10%. So it's just fine, but it's not going to run at dual x16.

This one from MSI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

EDIT: Oh wait. Are you looking for a mobo with the same price range as the one that you have? I STRONGLY suggest that you upgrade your mobo if you're going to XFIRE 280x. Maybe you'll do some OCing and what not. It's so much better if you don't go cheap on your mobo. I realized that you're going to XFIRE 280x's, so that means you have the budget to upgrade your mobo too.

Don't make the same mistake that I made. I went cheap on my mobo, it's not stable. It sometimes reboots then it says "new cpu or memory installed please press f1 for setup or f2 for default", then I have to reset the CMOS. Pain in the @$$ to go cheap on your mobo.

You can find some good mobos around $120 to $150 bro. Check this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=E...

The 1st two there even runs your XFIRE cards at dual x16 speed.
