I am considering purchasing a refurbished Dell OptiPlex with Windows 7 64 bit and a Pentium D (socket 775) as a secondary system. The intended use is Internet surfing, Microsoft Office, and network configuration practice, no gaming. I would then like to upgrade the HDD to an SSD. Are these old, antiquated mobos compatible with SSD's? If they are, how can I determine which one to buy (64GB capacity is all I would need)?

I don't know which model you will buy, but I did the same thing for my friend who had the OptiPlex 745, it has the SATAII ports, and works very well after put the SSD into it. You can go to http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ to pick up one.
