Hi, my current pc has a Asus p5k deluxe mobo and runs raid0 from the ICH9 onboard storage controller. Now I have a shortage of sata ports and bought a adaptec 1430SA. Now when there's a HDD connected to the Adaptec, the ICH9 raid is disabled and doesn't get posted when the bios boots (showing the raid configuration and connected drives). The BIOS (mobo) boot drive shows RAID: ADAPTEC ... instead of RAID: ICH9. I can't change the boot raid or the boot drive. I've tried disabling the bios from the adaptec and the BBS (and combinations) and nothing works. When there's no hdd connected to the Adaptec, I can select the boot drive in the bios (mobo) chosing between the different raid ontrollers or hard drives. It's like the adaptec hijacks the bios (mobo) boot device. The bios (mobo) has the latest bios version avialable. I've haven't updated the adapted bios and I think it's in V6.0-0.

The plan is to let my mobo to do the raid and hot swap drives, the adaptec wil get all the data drives from my pc.

Any suggestions on solving this problem to keep the boot on the onboard raid?
Thx

Finally found it. Apparently the onboard raid controller is disabled when another raid controller is detected. So it's moving time for the raid.

Kind Regards
