Hello,

I was just wondering if the Corsair Dominator Platinum 8gb (2x4) 1600mhz is compatible with an Asus Maximus VI Hero. By the way I also have an i7-4770K.

Here's the link: http://us.ncix.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&s...

Thanks

Pretty sure there isn't any problem at all if you just put it in the right RAM slots (1 and 3, 2 and 4)...
the other thing that I think you should be concerned is the height of those things because if you intend to install after market CPU coolers on your machine it'll surely cause you a big headache

Yeah I'm planning on getting the Corsair H100i which shouldn't be a problem with height issues.

Here is my planned rig,
Corsair Obsidian 750D
Asus Maximus VI Hero
i7-4770K
Asus GTX 770
Corsair H100i
Corsair CX750M PSU

I just cant decide between the Platinums at 1600mhz or the Vengeance Pro at 1866mhz. The platinums look too good!
The Platinums wouldn't hurt or damage my mobo at all would they? I know the vengeance pros would work just not sure about the Platinums.

Haswell like fast sticks, would suggest 1866 min -and 2133 or better w/ your CPU

With the Hero, best I've found are the GSkill Tridents with their Snipers second

I'm really not the person to ask about the brand name of RAM sticks to use but the piece of advice I can do offer that is without fail is that you really need to also heavily consider the height clearance of your sticks since it really does sometimes affect performance and yes I totally agree with you that the platinums are so sexy (even light up) and they won't not hurt your mobo at all (well unless they suddenly burn which 99.9% won't happen as long as you don't overclock your memory sticks carelessly) just be VERY mindful of their height clearance as to give you more options in the future in choosing your aftermarket CPU coolers :)  oh and a my last note don't forget to choose a best answer ;)

well what if the topic starter started using air cooling? pretty sure it can become a BIG issue ;)

just putting it out there because who knows in the future the topic starter wants to try one in the near future at least he/she will be cautious when doing so ;)

All depends on the cooler - the Hyper 212 for example is the most popular out there and with adjustable fan height - DRAM is not an issue ;)
