Basically I am working on a homemade water cooled laptop project but i need a way to power the water pump. I will be using a corsair h100 (or some equivalent) and i need a way to power the water pump. I was thinking i could use an AC/DC plug like one that would recharge batteries or an RC car i just need to know how many watts i would need to supply it and the fans. Also is there a way i could regulate the pump speed like with a fan controller or something?

Solution
Yup, a 12V plugpack should do fine. It will be on all the time, though, so you might want to find a way to switch it.

Anything around 2A would probably be enough for a pump, but read the specs.

you just need to provide it with the right voltage. It will draw the power it needs (provided the dc converter can provide it).

most pumps are 12v, so a 12v dc adapter will provide the right voltage. You should check the specs of the pump and see how much current it draws, and make sure the adapter can provide atleast that much current.
same goes for the fans.

How can i tell how much current the adapter puts out and how much the pump needs?
