I just got an SSD and it is currently my boot drive with Windows 7. I also have my HDD which all my old stuff. I'm having a lot of trouble running old programs and games from my old HDD. Do I need to re-download them? is there something I did wrong. Are there certain steps I need to follow when adding an SSD.

New SSD.
Install the OS on the SSD
Then yes, you have to reinstall all your applications for the new OS.

If you're using Steam or Origin, you can probably get around not having to download the games again. More or less follow the steps here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129

{you should have prepped this beforehand)

Origin is mostly the same.
For your other applications? Reinstall.
