I am having trouble with our home network. We have cable, to modem, to wifi router, and finally to the computer via ethernet.

The wifi always keeps working (i say that cautiously because it slows down sometimes). However, the computer (win 7) cannot connect to sites. On firefox, we continue to get the server not found page. At this point, the wifi is still working on mobile devices. The only way we have been able to remedy the situation is to turn off the router and restart it. Shortly after, ethernet begins to work. After some time, it fails again and we start all over.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

You may also have malware on your system you can try different ports on your router as well and I would try spybot and a malware remover as well just because the wi fi works don't mean the jacks in back will sounds as if its dying or your pc is infected. Try downloading chrome or another browser what makes me think theres a problem is that you have to shut it off and back on to get connected. I just replaced a Belkin router this past week that was doing the same thing and now I have no problems what so ever.

Yes, but the thing is that wifi continues to work. It is only the computer directly connect to the router via ethernet that is affected.
