How to connect Seasonic 1050W to 3-GPU configuration?

Hi guys,

Just got a Seasonic 1050W gold, and the modular part got me confused.

There are 2 CPU cables, one is 8-pin EPS and the other is 4+4 pin ATX. if my motherboard has only a 4-pin connector, whould I use the ATX one or the EPS?

I know that there is not really a difference as the 8-pin one will fit to the 4-pin connector on the motherboard anyway. The reason I'm asking is to know if the draw power from the same rail? Will choosing one over the other leave me more wattage available for the GPUs?

The 8-pin connector takes the spot on the PSU that says "CPU \ PCIE", so maybe the 8-pin takes wattage from the cards...?

Sorry but you did buy the unit and you should know what it is? Here is a great basic guide to PSU from the Tom's site (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-specifications-atx-reference,3061.html). If you follow the modular labels on the psu when making connections, you will not have any issues. This design psu supplies three large "pools" of power (the 3 voltages 12v, 5v and 3.3v) to be used as needed by the system. If it is 12v no matter if it is delivered through the 24 pin connector or on of the peripheral connectors, it comes off the same rail. After reading the guide please get back with any questions. That unit has a single 12v rail rate at 87Amp with 1044 Watts available. The 3.3v and the 5v both are at 25 Amp each and 150 Watts each. So your concern about power draw on "rails" does not apply. It is a single rail design. You could do small welding work with the 87 amps :) .
