8gb is sweetest spot for any system now..
it's actually more than enough for any game..

so yes, upgrade your gpu..and also buy an aftermarket cooling..you'll need to overclock that processor..

That's pretty decent as is...Are you having performance issues with something specific? ATI will most likely release their 8xxx series pretty soon(spring?) and nVidia probably something similar for 8xx. At this point I don't know how much performance gain 16BG will really give you. Do you use the computer for other things then gaming?

Any thoughts on a good GPU to upgrade too? The only problem is this litecoin mining, the card I wanted is insanely over priced at the moment.

single 7870 will generate 420-460 mhash/s
so if you run it in crossfire, you'll get 840-920 mhash/s
this card cost you around $150-170 for singlecard, and 300-340 for crossfire mode..

single 7970/280x will generate 640-650 mhash/s
this card cost you around $300 => http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-100363...

so, for mining, get 2x7870/r9 270..and this crossfire card is excellent for gaming purpose..

at stock clock, yes..
at 4.2-4.4ghz..no..

Even if you running it in stock clock and get some bottleneck, you'll still gain nice fps (60+ fps) in any games at highest setting..

that's why i said grab a new cpu cooler too..
