Having problems getting my Zepplin Air , musice streaming speaker, to be detected wirelessly for configuration
Have been advised by makers to check if the router is operating on a fixed channel or set on auto detect. How do I do this ? Any words if wisdom?

It does not really matter you cannot set the channel on a end device anyway. The router controls the channel. The end device only needs the SSID and it will go find the strongest signal using that ssid and use it.

The auto feature on a router is generally only used when the router first starts to select a channel with the least competition from other routers it does not normally change after the router selects one.

Still it does not matter the end device cannot force the router to use a certain channel the router is always in control.

Be aware this device uses only 802.11g. Many people now disable the support for 802.11g in their routers because running a mix of 802.11g and 802.11n degrades the performance for the 802.11n devices. Check to be sure the support for 802.11g is enabled if you really intend to use these with a 802.11n router.

Thank you for that . The makers of the speaker have said to check that the router is supporting 802.11g. As it is a new router only a couple of weeks old I am assuming is is supporting 802.11g but ......at the expense of appearing dim , how do I check ? I've never done this before? Thanks.

By default most router support it and have the feature turned on. There is a option on one of the screens that says something like disable b/g support. It likely is on the same screen that you set the SSID and encryption keys. Hard to say too many routers you would have to read their manual I guess for a real answer.
