Good day everyone!

Recently I got some extra cash from my Christmas card :) £100 to be precise!
SO I decided to splash out some ~£50 extra for a new CPU.

My current CPU is the FX-4100 so whatever I do is likely better and I want to upgrade to the FX-8350 ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX8350-Edition-Processor-4-2GHz/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1387187412&sr=8-1&keywords=amd+fx-8350 )

My current Rig:
AMD FX - 4100
nVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti (Superclocked)
2x6 GB Corsair RAM
Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 AM3+
PSU** 650 Watt Corsair (Not sure on model, not sure if its important. But its 650 watt)

tl;dr:
I am considering getting a FX-8350 (that is a upgrade from my current FX-4100) is there anything better and would it run on my 650 Watt PSU?

Question: Is there anything better that is around my £150 budget and supports a AM3+ socket?

EDIT: I am also looking at the FX-9370 if its any good. **(I would like to know because I may get that instead)**

Solution
The 8350 is a fine choice! If you wanna save a little extra cash, you can buy a 8320 and OC it yourself to match a 8350. Honestly the 9370 is obviously better, but totally unnecessary in comparison to the rest of your build. I'd go with the 8320 or 8350 depending on what prices you find and save the rest to put towards a new GPU! :)

Also, your PSU is fine. You won't need to upgrade that unless you get a rather high end GPU and feel like doing some OC.

Alright thanks :)
My GPU is fine ATM it is capable of running BF4 on High 1080p.

I realize that sometime next year it may need upgrading to keep up with the latest games, but I OC my GPU slightly and it runs delightfully!

Because it wouldn't be necessary for the rest of his build. It makes more sense to pay 55 pounds less for the 8320, then OC it.

That's good to hear. I think you will be pleased with the price to performance of the 8320 or 8350. I'd go with the 8320 as it seems a good amount cheaper.

"gas" guzzling heat monger/there's 2 reasons. i can't think of one review site i visited that actually said it was a worthwhile processor. just because it's clocked @4.4 and can over clock means nothing........... then you need to take into account the price performance factor. Intel literally slaughters that cpu.

Better CPU and you do not need to upgrade it so soon. Rest of build he can upgrade?

HOLY CRAP!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX8320-Edition-4-0GHz-Socket/dp/B009O7YU56/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1387190432&sr=1-1&keywords=fx-8320

That is so much cheaper, whats the catch in performance?

EDIT: Just as this is going to be my first time modifying my CPU and I am planning to OC it, does it come with a Fan and is the Thermal Paste pre-applied :eyeroll: also, you said it can handle 5Ghz? Is that with the stock fan or would I need a aftermarket? *It would need to fit in a Micro ATX tower ;3

The 8320 and 8350 are both 8-core CPUs that can easily handle a .5Ghz OC...why would he need to upgrade either of these in the near future...games will start being optimized for 8-cores since both consoles sport 8 cores...plus the 9370 generates way more heat than it should. Plus there is no reason to spend the extra money. At that point you might as well go for a solid i5/i7.

"technically" better........... what does that mean?.................... and then you contradict yourself by saying "but that doesn't mean it is worth it"..............???? typo?

Technically faster is what I was implying....I would personally never buy a 9370, but hey, there is something for everyone I guess. So relax, my friend.

It is just a great budget CPU. One of my favs. I never said it could handle 5Ghz...I said It could handle a .5Ghz OC...notice the decimal point. Getting a 8320 up to 5Ghz would be pretty rough. AMD CPUs are known for their higher temps, so I would sugest buying a solid cooler like a 212 EVO, they are generally pretty cheap. I'm not sure if it comes with the paste, but you can always buy some if you need it, which you probably will. Should be pretty cheap.

This has a backplate (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0068OI7T8/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers) when mounting to the MoBo I am very uncomfortable putting them on.
I snapped, well clamped my MoBo too much and broke my last one.

I'll go with the Stock cooler for now, see how the temps go if they go up too much I'll go with a aftermarket. (and it comes with thermal paste)

I wouldn't recommend using an 8-core AMD CPU without some form of cooling, but I guess I can't stop you...
If you are going to OC the CPU, you WILL need a cpu cooler for sure.

NONONONONO, I would never use a CPU without some formal cooling.
Is there not a stock cooler?

There is a stock cooler, but they are not very good. And AMD CPUs use more power so they output more heat...I would always run an AMD CPU with a aftermarket cooler. But hey, that's just me.
