I have read online Haswells run hot but i cannot find information about the common temperature the i5 4670 (with stock cooling) produces.

My cpu idles in mid 30s(c) to low 40s(c) and sometimes in games it reaches to about 70c-80c.

So i can't help but wonder if this is normal or dangerous?

What temperature is considered to be the danger zone?

I am considering getting a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler for the cpu but i'm not sure if it is worth ruining the warranty.

What are your thoughts on this?

your idle temps are good....but your working temps are on the higher side.

90-100C + is considered danger zone

you can go for the hyper 212evo...decent cooler at a budget.

using after market cooler does not void warranty unless you keep the stock cooler with yourself. but a burnt processor is not covered under warranty.

70-80 degrees is still pretty hot. I haven't really looked into haswell cpus yet but i assume it's not supposed to run that hot. At least if it's not overclocked. But it runs fine in idle so i guess it might be a haswell thing. Maybe getting a cooler would help a bit.
