Is toshiba qosmio X70 good for gaming in that price range?

yes, it's quite good. The GTX770m is an re-badged GTX670m, which was and still is a very decent GPU. Specially for a laptop. The GTX770m is roughly equivalent to a desktop GTX660. Although the 770m has 3gb dedicated vram which will make higher resolutions possible.

If your laptop is 1080p, on newer games like FC3, Crysis 3, BF4 you should be able to play on med-high settings. On older games, you should be able to max/ultra.
