Is my A8-5557M AMD CPU Overheating?

I have an Acer Aspire V5-552G-8632 model, and I've noticed on websites that the maximum operating temperature for an A8 is at max, 105 C.

However, I've seen my CPU go way over that (Around 110-115 C or higher) when in gaming sessions, and some have said that the computer will at some point be damaged at those high temperatures.

Thing is though, I've had this laptop for 2 months, and I haven't seen such damages yet, and I use this laptop quite a lot.

Should I be worried?

those are no way acceptable temps not sure about laptop but amd cpu's start throttling @areoung 65 to 70 wich means you are loosing almost all of your performance no matter what anyone says if you cpu is running hotter than 70c you have a problem, that can not be normal

Yeah, that's too hot. If you are willing, you may be able to open it up and clean out the heatsinks. However, at 2 months, I wouldn't expect that to be an issue yet.

More likely the thermal paste isn't properly applied. Get some and some isopropyl alcohol, and try cleaning it. Or send Acer some screenshots, if you don't want to open it up.

Check a couple of tools. The BIOS should have a temperature reading, and try HWMonitor, CoreTemp, and Speedfan.

I thought laptop CPUs were built to withstand larger amounts of heat? And keep in mind this has been going on for 2 months. Don't you think some kind of damage would've occurred during that time frame?

I used HWMonitor and AMD OVerdrive. But it's strange.

The current temperature HWMonitor is showing is at 98 C. But the temperatures for all 4 cores in AMD Overdriveis showing 40ish C.

Maybe it's a miscalculation? The HWMonitor program only shows one temperature (Not all 4 cores).

well just to be sure, there is a small chance your thermal sensor is buged, ok run hwmonitor open up some cpu intensive stuff like a game or even better cinebench run it and in hwmonitor chek temps and clock(verry important on those speed they should throttle down to minimum) if there is no throttling and temps still shove huge i would say its the thermal sensor and dont worry about it
